According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots have made an offer to Julius Peppers. Although no serious details are out, it has been said that both the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are in the running for J.P.Now this is a very good sign. It didn't look like the Patriots were going to do much in the free agent market, although they certainly have plenty of holes to fill. Signing Peppers would be a huge move, that would improve their defense tremendously. They couldn't put together any pressure on oppoing Qb's last year, this move would put them in the right direction.
It is also being reported that NE is trying to hammer a long term deal out with Vince Wilfork. Having both Wilfork and Peppers on the defensive side would certainly make this defense more versatile than in past years.

The only place on the defensive side the Pats still need help at is in the secondary. Especially considering the New York Jets just upgraded tremendously today by trading a draft pick for the Chargers Antonio Cromartie. It's too bad that the Pats didn't have the chips to make a play at Cromartie, as he would have fit into their defense perfectly.
All-in-all, this is a very good sign coming out of Foxboro.
