Take off the noose, put the chair back in the corner and forget about yesterday's heartbreaking post. Today the Juke presents the top 10 greatest moments from Boston sports of the past decade. The beginning of the millennium saw a change in the city's sports culture that made Boston the greatest sports city of the decade. Gone were the days of the Patsies losing in front of 5,000 people at Foxboro Stadium. The 2000's gave us Tom Brady, the resurgence of the Bruins, KG, the Celtics return to supremacy and of course, the death of a curse. So throw on your Patriots hat, your faded Nomar t-shirt and your Bruins socks as you remember the glory days of yesteryear.
10: Celtics rally against Nets, 2002 Eastern Conference Playoffs
The Celtics entered game 3 of the Eastern Conference desperately needing a win to keep their hopes of the NBA championship alive. With the series tied 1-1 and the Nets holding a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter set the stage for one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history. Motivated by Paul Pierce's timeout speech, Antoine Walker and Pierce led the charge as the Celts completed the historic comeback.
9: The Snow Bowl, 2002
To put just one moment from the Snow Bowl would be impossible. The Patriots were hosting their first playoff game since 1996 as the Oakland Raiders came to Foxboro. The dramatic falling snow, the "Tuck Rule", Vinateri's 45-yard game-tying field goal and the Patriots march down field in overtime made this one of the most memorable games of all-time.
8: Red Sox Win The 2007 World Series
It's hard to believe the Red Sox won not only one World Series this decade, but two. After mounting a great comeback against Cleveland the Sox were ready to take on the Rockies. Despite Colorado's Cinderella season the shoe did not fit in the World Series. Boston took the Series easily, winning in 4.
7: Super Bowl XXXIX
It wasn't the most exciting Super Bowl the Patriots have played in but it did solifidy their place in NFL history as a dynasty. The Patriots beat the Eagles 24-21 by shutting down Donovan McNabb and the injured Terrell Owens. It was the franchise's third Lombardi trophy in four seasons.
6: Bruins Win Game 6, 2008
The Bruins needed a win at home to force a game 7 in Montreal against the heavily favored Habs. Down 2-1 in the 3rd period Vladimir Sobotka scored on a Carey Price rebound to tie the game. Montreal took the lead again with less than 10 minutes ago when a Francis Bouillon shot deflected off of Shane Hnidy. The Bruins came back and tied it again on a Milan Lucic goal. Phil Kessel gave the Bruins the first lead of the night with just 4:15 remaining. Amazingly, 11 seconds later, Montreal tied the game on a Chris Higgins score. But the Bruins got the final goal when Marco Sturm dangled past Price and scored the game-winning goal. The famous line from the game came from Jack Edwards when he yelled, "This building is vibrating!"
5: Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVIII
It was a back and forth game that saw the Panthers tie the game with less than two minutes to play on a Rickey Proehl catch. A costly kickoff that landed out-of-bounds gave the Patriots great field position. Tom Brady marched the Pats downfield and put Adam Vinateri in position to win the team's second Super Bowl.
4: Celtics Win The 2008 NBA Championship
After finishing the 2007 season with just 24 wins the Boston Celtics were desperate for a change. When the #1 draft pick didn't fall their way Danny Ainge took matters into his own hands. Ainge traded for Minnesota's Kevin Garnett which gave the C's the size, skill and physicality that they had been lacking. The team was turned into immediate contenders and easily won the Atlantic Division. Despite a first-round scare from the Hawks, the Celtics charged through the playoffs with the ease. They beat the Lakers by 39 points in Game 6 to secure the team's unprecedented 17th Championship banner.
3: Red Sox Win Their First World Series In 86 Years
It was a moment that Red Sox fans thought they would never see. There is no perfect way to describe what Red Sox Nation was feeling on the night of October 28, 2004. The city of Boston and all of New England held their breath as Keith Foulke grabbed a comebacker from Edgar Renteria and slowly tossed the ball to Doug Mientkavich. It was surreal, it was magical, and it finally happened.
2: Patriots Win Super Bowl XXXVI
There was nothing scarier then having to face the Greatest Show on Turf for the Super Bowl. I remember my heart racing as Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt and Az-Zahir Hakim were announced. I remember thinking how good and intimidating the Rams were. But the Patriots were introduced as a team and a legacy was born. The idea that the team was greater than the individuals that made it was born on February 3, 2002. Warner was beaten down, Faulk knocked over, and Holt was hit hard. The Rams scored first with a field goal but it was Ty Law's interception for a touchdown that set the tone. A late first-half David Patten touchdown gave the Patriots a 14-3 lead. The Rams came storming back and as the fourth quarter was winding down they tied it at 17...then St. Louis kicked off. Madden said take a knee, Bledsoe said to chuck it. Brady found an open J.R. Redmond, Troy Brown and Jermaine Wiggins to put the pats in field goal range. Adam Vinatieri stepped onto the Superdome turf to attempt a 48-yard field goal. The kick was good and the Patriots "shocked the world."
1: Greatest Comeback In History
I don't think I can put down any words that will give the 2004 ALCS justice. To sum it up: The Yankees took the first three easily, Dave Roberts stole second, Big Papi won game 4 with a walkoff HR, Big Papi won game 5 with a single, A-rod slapped like a girl and Johnny Damon hit a grandslam in game 7. Oh yeah, and there was a bloody sock.
May the next decade provide us with as much excitement, joy and duck boat parades as this past one did. Here's to 2010!

Man from the Chair doesn't take responsibility for a post that put the Red Sox winning their first World Series in our lifetimes as number 3 of the decade. It was the greatest moment in Boston sports history, not just the decade. What a travesty. Reverse #1 and #3 and this list is pretty good.
Also, Bruins Canadiens Game 6, while a great game and probably the only great Bruins moment of the decade, should not be ahead the Snow Bowl game.
I love when Jukers argue with eachother about their own website. How bout you JOKERS put your heads together for once and come up with an agreed upon list.
I like the list. Snow bowl highlights still give me the shivers.
Bruins game six? Question: did they win that series?
The reason the World Series is #3 is simple. It was a sweep! Sure it was a great moment, one of the best no doubt, but there wasn't a lot of nailbiting excitement once the series moved to St. Louis. The win over the Yankees was historic for several reasons and was much more entertaining as the series went 7 games.
The reason the Pats are ahead is because it was the first championship for the city in 15 years and the first that most of us actually remember. Not to mention that it was an enormous upset with a rookie QB
Brades, the C's lost the series to the Nets too
I dont care if it was a sweep. It was an unbelievable moment. At that point in time, the Red Sox were still the "do anything possible to lose" team and we were only a year removed from blowing a 3 run lead to the Yankees with five outs to go...so even though the Red Sox were up 3 games to zip, until Doug Mientkivenavkldjvich caught that ball, everyone was on the edge of their seats and expecting the worst. The historical significance alone makes it the best moment though, even without all the shit I just explained.
If the Red Sox had lost the world series, would you feel the same way about the comeback against the Yankees?
It will be great to watch World Series: Boston Red Sox,i have bought tickets from TicketFront.com looking forward to it.
